Skin Care During Winter

Winters are magical, romantic and also promote good health. Make time to pamper and indulge in a facial massage or body packs. There are wraps too for the body that help moisturize, which is vital for skin. Also winter times are good for workouts and hence body changing shapes is prone to skin stretches. Skin care during winter does not mean using bottles of moisturizer and conditioners for the hair. It is natural that the appetite is high owing to the conducive climate and hence the diet is important to correct skin and hair problems.

The most common problem is ‘smiling under pressure’ owing to cracked lips. Lip bleeding is painful and does not allow you to use lipsticks. There is no reason not to smile and doll yourself during winter. Protecting oneself from moisture loss is better than restoring the moisture loss. Prevention is better than cure. Even if you are naturally blessed with good skin and shiny mop of hair, winter is harsh on skin-hair. One definitely needs to change the shampoo and conditioner. Bad hair can result in hair loss. Dry skin doubles up during winter causing scaly and flaky dandruff which falls over the forehead and nose further causing acnes and pimples.

Dry chapped skin is often prone to infection and dermatitis is common during winter. Allergy causing pollen is also the root causes of infection. Further there could be specific skin conditions that exist in winter. As you do your winter ball dresses and hair do make sure to care for elbows, knees and ankles. Dry skin is very uncomfortable and also causes trouble while sitting and standing. Summers also require moisturizers but hydrating oneself is easier as one naturally replenishes water loss with lots of water. But winter moisture retention for skin is limited to application of lotions and Vaseline.

Lip balms are available in fruity tones and a necessity in your hand bag. Seeing too much of sun to feel the warmth during winter is high risk for skin as the UV rays are harmful. Sun blocks with SPF content is vital before you sun bask. Vaseline is good for cuticles and pedicures are a must. Wearing right fit shoes and cotton socks are more suited. Thermal and synthetic inner garments may cause dry skin owing to friction. Gloves and wool cause overheating and hence it is important to check for fungal growth on the garments. Anti fungal creams are effective and application will ward off the problem.

Glycerin and petroleum jelly in direct form also nourishes skin, though there are herbal and anti wrinkle skin creams recommended by beauty therapists. Radiant complexion comes from eating well, sleeping through and working out in the gymnasium. Winter is no time for excuses to get back in shape. Feel good and rejuvenated with glowing skin this winter.
